Increased activity

Garden firsts f0r the year today included Golden-crowned Kinglets and a White-throated Sparrow (a very handsome chap).  Also seen were a Northern Flicker, a gand of DE Juncos and all other other regulars.

We thought the new birds were early this year but our records show that they arrived only one day different last year so they know where they should be at the moment even if we don’t.

Meanwhile, the Topads are happily croaking again in the pond so we have expectations of spawn shortly.

Up at the Arboretum a dense cedar windbreak near the conservaiton centre was a crawling with Kinglets – we have a front moving through this evening and it seems some early birds are moving ahead of it.
