Last weekend was gloriously warm and sunny but today we paid for it with unrelenting rain. It was my turn to ensure the daily photographs were taken for the arboretum documentation project and so off we trudged. Surprisingly, it was very nice in there as we seemed to be the only people daft enough to go out (Brits are amphibious, Canadians are not) and we had a jolly time splashing around.
The quarry forms a “vernal pool” each spring – as you can see from one of the photos below this is a misnomer this year, you could float a barge on it. The quarry water was overflowing in fact – never seen that before – and a rushing torrent ran across to Blossom Corner where it lay and deepened by the minute.
