A HOSP for the GBBC

This weekend is the annual Great Backyard Bird Count and although absent for some weeks, one of the increasingly rare House Sparrows turned up to pay a short visit and be recorded. The neurologically-challenged squirrel (Blackie, aka Mr. Wobbly) is still hanging in there but he does seem to be getting worse and tiring more easily.  We keep thinking he’s nearly had it but up he pops again.

Beautiful, crisp bright day but after tha rain a few days ago the forest trails arte like skating rinks – had to dig out the spikes to put on our boots or it would have been brokwn bones at least.  Saw a few birds, got some exercise and now it’s time for a fortifying glass of sloe gin.
