Birds are moving

A friend told me today that he had seen a “tree full of Blackpoll Warblers” this morning and coming home tonight I learned that a couple had been in the garden during the day along with Hummingbirds.  Over the ritual end-of-day cuppa tea a Cedar Waxwing dropped by and then three Magnolia Warblers … one of which allowed me to catch his portrait, albeit not from his most advantageous angle.  Also seen was a Red-eyed Vireo and a couple of days past a Warbling Vireo.

Autumn migration has indeed begun so things shoukld start getting interesting again after the summer lull.

Just after this they were chased away by one of the local residents …
