A “different” Christmas

The best bird today was the duck we just had for dinner – after all, once you’ve ticked a duck you may as well eat it, it’s done what it was supposed to do.

But …. but, but, but, Santa wasn’t stuck in the chimney but we had the dreaded ice-dam on the roof with water coming in through a crockery cupboard in the kitchen so this particular birder’s Christmas day was 50% spent up on the roof removing ice and installing a heating cable to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Unlike some people, we really love Canadian winters, but Xmas morning on the roof with a hammer rather takes the shine off things.

Bet it was good for my waistline though ………. !

More Mourning Doves in the garden than we have seen for a very long time – that should briung the Hawks a-visiting soon.
